Funware – shared artist residency

BALTAN, NIMk and Piksel have launched an open call for proposals as part of the exhibition project Funware. We are looking for interesting new software art projects that can be developed in the period of June – November 2010 through a shared residency. The new work, developed during the residency will be presented in the Funware exhibition at MU in Eindhoven and at HMKV in Dortmund and a public presentation of the results of the artist’s research at BALTAN Laboratories, NIMk and Piksel.

MoMA aquires the @ symbol

On March 10th, 2010, MoMA’s Department of Architecture and Design acquired the @ symbol into its collection. – It is a momentous, elating acquisition that makes us all proud, says senior curator Paola Antonelli. But why, how, and what does it mean, both in conceptual and in practical terms?

Qwartz awards, Paris

PNEK will participate with a stand at the 6th Qwartz Awards/market in Paris, April 2-3. Per Platou will give a short presentation on the emerging Norwegian music scene on saturday at 1530. Full pdf programme here.

i/o Lab: Public Screens

Public Screens has finally launched the pilotproject. Public Screens will through displays of works of art on public screens contribute to unique artistic experiences in the city room for the passers-by, or for people who are waiting in the foyer, schools and terminals.

Media art on the radio

The UK-based artgroup Furtherfield have just launched a new weekly radio series in collaboration with Resonance FM. The themes will focus on contemporary media arts culture, and the first broadcast has already been aired. Every programme will be available as netcast, FM (London) and podcast.

Course in soundscape recordings and studio techniques

An in-depth look at various microphone techniques used for works in the soundscape field. We will review classic techniques such as MS and multi-channel recording, and also more exotic techniques like underwater recording and ambisonics. We will also look at how outdoor recordings can be processed in order to attain improved audio quality.
